German Chocolate Pie
  • 1 (9-inch) deep dish unbaked pie shell
  • 1 (4-oz.) pkg. German sweet chocolate
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 1 (12 oz.) can evaporated milk
  • 1 ½ cup sugar
  • 3 T. cornstarch
  • ⅛ tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 ½ cup coconut
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped

Melt chocolate and butter over low heat. Remove from heat, blend in milk. Set aside. Mix together sugar, cornstarch and salt. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Blend in chocolate mixture, pour into pie shell. Combine coconut and nuts. Sprinkle over chocolate mixture. Bake at 375° for 45 minutes.

Serves 8 to 10.
